Student volunteer recruitment is underway at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), with opportunities for high school, post-secondary and graduate students to gain hands-on experience while supporting patient care.
The Kingston-based hospital network is seeking applicants who can commit year-round, noting the intake process may take one to two months. Applications will be reviewed based on hospital needs, availability and overall fit.
KHSC says volunteers play an important role in improving the patient care experience, while also gaining valuable exposure to the health-care field.
Current volunteers report benefits that include personal growth, skill development and a better understanding of service to others. Roles can include visiting patients, offering companionship and assisting with recreational programming.
The program also allows students to explore future careers in health care while building consistency and responsibility.
Applications are now open. Students who are not contacted within four months are encouraged to reapply if they remain interested.
