The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands is reminding private road and lane property owners that applications are now open for its Private Road Grant program for capital improvements. The program supports upgrades to privately maintained roads to improve safety, accessibility, and emergency response access.
Eligible road associations can apply for projects up to a maximum of $5,000 per submission, with the municipality covering 50 per cent of eligible costs. Officials say the funding is intended to help improve access for emergency services such as fire and ambulance vehicles, particularly in rural and remote areas.
The deadline to apply is June 6, 2026. Property owners and road associations are encouraged to review program details and submit applications through the Township’s website.
Additional information is available on the Private Road Grants page online. Questions about the program can be directed to the Director of Operations & Infrastructure at 1-866-220-2327 ext. 211.
