The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands has initiated Class Environmental Assessments (Class EAs) to determine how best to expand wastewater infrastructure in Lansdowne.
The studies will evaluate options for increasing capacity at the Lansdowne Sewage Treatment System and the Railway Sewage Pumping Station to meet both current and future development needs. Officials say the work follows the completion of the Township’s Water Storage Class EA and will help guide long-term servicing decisions.
The process will examine potential upgrades and expansion options, with a preferred solution and design concept to be developed for both facilities.
Public, agency, and Indigenous consultation will play a key role in the assessment process. Feedback will be used to develop and evaluate alternatives based on technical, environmental, economic, and community factors.
Two Public Information Centres are planned, with the first expected in fall 2026. Updates will be made available through the Township’s website as the study progresses.
