Half-load restrictions remain in effect on roads across the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands as officials work to protect infrastructure during the spring thaw.
The seasonal weight limits were implemented on March 2, 2026, in response to fluctuating temperatures that can weaken road surfaces. Township staff say the restrictions are necessary to prevent damage to roads during periods when they are most vulnerable.
Typically, the limits remain in place until May 15, but officials note they could be lifted earlier depending on weather conditions and how quickly roads stabilize this spring.
Drivers, particularly those operating heavy vehicles, are being asked to follow posted limits and plan accordingly.
Updates on the status of the restrictions will be shared through the Township’s website and social media channels as conditions change.
