Firefighters are one of several emergency services who see many things that most of us will never see. It does over time, have an effect on their mental health. Fire Prevention Officer with the Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service Doug Richardson has this piece of advice for those first responders in need of someone to chat with.
Richardson says locally there are ways to help our first responders get through the tough times.
Being a first responder can be tough on your mental health due to what you unfortunately have to see when you go to a call. Richardson said no matter how tough things get, remember, there are people and services to help you.
