The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is expanding local housing options through a new Affordable Mixed Income Rental Housing pilot program, designed to help households that earn too much to qualify for traditional rent-geared-to-income housing but still struggle with rising private market rental costs.
The program combines affordable housing units with existing rent-geared-to-income apartments across six one-bedroom apartment buildings owned by the Counties. Affordable housing units for 2026 are set at $1,290 per month for a one-bedroom apartment.
Locations participating in the program include Cardinal, Spencerville, Lansdowne, Westport, and Merrickville. In Lansdowne, units are available at 43 Centre Street.
To qualify, households must have a combined annual income between $46,001 and $60,000, meet Canadian residency requirements, and demonstrate positive rental and credit histories. Applicants must also be able to live independently.
Officials say the initiative is intended to complement, not replace, existing social housing programs already available in the region.
Residents interested in applying or learning more can contact the Social Housing Registry through the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.
