Families from across the region packed Lansdowne on Wednesday for a successful Touch-A-Truck event celebrating National Public Works Week.
The event, organized by Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service, welcomed visitors to 1233 Prince Street where children and families had the chance to explore fire trucks, heavy equipment, and municipal vehicles up close. Gananoque Fire Service and local public works crews were also on hand showcasing the equipment they use every day to help keep communities safe and running smoothly.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors met operators, learned about public works operations, and took part in hands-on activities. Student tours and a dedicated quiet hour also helped make the event accessible for a wide range of attendees.
A barbecue fundraiser held during the event raised support for local food banks, with many residents also donating pantry items.
