Student Parliament members from Athens District High School visited Queen’s Park on May 11 for a firsthand look at Ontario politics and government operations.
The trip followed a February visit to the school by Steve Clark, who presented a new tricorne hat to the school’s Model Parliament.
During the visit, students met Premier Doug Ford, took part in a question-and-answer session, and posed for photos. Student Lucas Simmons asked about environmental concerns tied to a proposed highway project, while Kayla Bolton asked Ford why he entered politics.
Students also toured the legislature, visited Clark’s office, and observed caucus proceedings, where they received a standing ovation from Members of Provincial Parliament.
Students said the experience strengthened their understanding of Ontario history, democracy, and civic engagement.
