The Gananoque Fire Department is asking the community for help furnishing its new fire training grounds to better prepare firefighters for real-life emergency situations.
Officials say donated household items will help crews create more realistic residential fire training scenarios, improving hands-on experience and emergency response preparation.
The department is currently looking for items including tables, chairs, kitchen cabinets, countertops, refrigerators, stoves, and bathtubs. While the items do not need to be in perfect condition, firefighters say they should still be usable to maximize training opportunities.
The department notes it will arrange pickup for donated materials, and the requested items list will be updated as equipment is collected.
Officials say the new training setup will help strengthen firefighter skills while improving community safety across Gananoque.
Residents interested in donating items or learning more are encouraged to contact Deputy Chief Andrew Kent or Community Safety Officer Dillon Champagne.
