A special ground breaking ceremony took place recently at Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque with several local leaders on hand and Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Ontario Minister of Long Term Care to make the announcement. The Minister spoke with us about why they chose to support this expansion.
She said Carveth is one of several long term care projects underway in the province.
Kusendova Bashta told us that with the expansion, it will mean less travel time for those visiting their loved ones.
She says the province was very proud to make the investment and says the Town of Gananoque has embraced this project.
In a recent media release, Lisa Gibson Burgess of Carveth Care Centre said quote, “This redevelopment is about more than a new building, it is about creating a home for residents, a supportive workplace for staff, and a welcoming gathering place for families for generations to come. Our grandparents first envisioned quality long-term care in this community more than 65 years ago, and we are proud to continue that legacy by investing in a modern, state-of-the-art home that will meet the evolving needs of residents and families across Gananoque and the surrounding area. We are deeply grateful to the Government of Ontario, the Town of Gananoque, and all of our partners, staff, residents, and families for their trust and support in bringing this vision to life.”
The Minister added that this expansion is big for the future of Gananoque and Carveth Care. This new home is part of the Ontario government’s continued progress toward its commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province.
