A traffic stop conducted by Gananoque Police Service on May 15, 2026, has resulted in charges against two individuals and a subsequent court sentence.
Police say officers stopped a vehicle while on patrol and identified the occupants. During the investigation, it was determined that a 32-year-old passenger from Seeley’s Bay was in breach of a release order. The individual was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, related to conditions requiring them to remain at their residence, as well as possession of illegal substances. They were held for a bail hearing.
The 45-year-old driver from Ajax was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
On May 22, 2026, the 32-year-old accused was convicted of one count of failing to comply with a release order and sentenced to three days in custody, receiving credit for pre-sentence custody already served.
