Recently Charleston Lake Provincial Park was one of nine parks across Ontario to get some much needed restoration. Several trees and shrubs were planted to help fill in areas that had dead trees. Forest Canada Seed and Stock Specialist Mark McDermid talked about why this project needed to happen.
McDermid told us how many new additions Charleston Lake received.
McDermid said all parks were quick to help making it a quick 3- 4 days work for the team.
The project was an effort across the region to restore natural beauty and support species impacted by weather events and tree loss due to insects or disease and even shoreline erosion. Across the 9 parks, over 12,000 trees and shrubs have been planted and protected.
