Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Gananoque and the surrounding area as a slow-moving weather system brings the potential for heavy rain today and into this evening.
Forecasters say some locations could receive up to 50 millimetres of rain, with isolated thunderstorms also possible. The high moisture content associated with the system increases the risk of intense downpours in localized areas.
Residents are advised to use caution, as water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Drivers are reminded never to travel through flooded roadways. Environment Canada says conditions will continue to be monitored as the system moves through the region.
