Cataraqui Conservation has extended its Shoreline Conditions Statement for Lake Ontario and the upper St. Lawrence River, citing elevated but stable water levels.
According to the latest update, Lake Ontario’s water level at Kingston remains slightly above the agency’s monitoring threshold, though levels have gradually declined in recent weeks. Officials say the seasonal peak likely occurred on May 29, provided weather conditions remain average or drier than normal.
While widespread flooding is not expected, water levels remain higher than typical summer conditions and could stay above the monitoring threshold into July. As a result, there remains an increased risk of localized shoreline impacts from storm surge and wave action.
Cataraqui Conservation says residents along shorelines should continue to monitor conditions. The statement remains in effect until July 17 unless updated earlier due to changing weather or water level conditions.
