Residents will have an opportunity to comment on proposed planning amendments at a public meeting hosted by the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands on July 13.
Council will consider an Official Plan Amendment and two Zoning By-law Amendment applications, including a proposal that would permit limited structures within the Township’s 30-metre water setback. Under the proposed amendment, property owners could construct structures with a maximum combined area of 14 square metres within the setback area.
The exception would not apply to properties located on highly sensitive lake trout lakes, including Charleston Lake and Red Horse Lake. Structures containing sleeping accommodations would also remain prohibited within the setback.
The public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes and share their feedback with Council.
