The Town of Gananoque is advising residents to use caution at Joel Stone Beach after higher-than-normal levels of E. coli were detected in the water.
The advisory follows testing by Southeast Public Health, which has directed the Town to post cautionary signage at the beach. While the beach remains open, visitors are advised to use the area at their own risk until further notice.
The advisory applies only to the beach. The nearby splash pad at 135 Water Street remains open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while public washrooms continue operating from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.
The Town says it will continue working with Southeast Public Health to monitor water quality and will provide updates as new test results become available. Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding.
