Several residents gathered at the Gananoque Legion Monday night for an open discussion regarding several parts of the 2027 Municipal Budget. Led by Gananoque Mayor John Beddows, the crowd on hand discussed many topics including a regional police force.
The Mayor also brought up a topic of discussion regarding the current state of the Lou Jeffries Arena, noting that the arena is projected to reach end of life at approximately 20 years and $22 million dollars, compounding 3% annually, becomes 39 million dollars. He added that discussions on something like this need to begin now, not 20 years out.
The crowd on hand also participated in conversations about Physician Recruitment, Municipal Services, Parks and Recreation and Municipal Accommodation Tax. Beddows and those in attendance were pleased with the discussions. Another session will be taking place at a date to be announced soon.
