Environment Canada’s Orange Heat Warning remains in effect as a prolonged heat event continues across the region and is expected to last into the weekend.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius, with overnight lows of 21 to 25 degrees, providing little relief from the heat. Officials say the hottest conditions are expected to continue through Thursday.
Hot and humid air may also contribute to deteriorating air quality, with the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category.
Residents are urged to take precautions by staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activity during peak heat, and checking on seniors, people living alone, and other vulnerable individuals throughout the day.
Health officials warn to watch for early signs of heat illness, including headache, dizziness, nausea, dark urine, and fatigue. Anyone experiencing symptoms should stop activity immediately and drink water.
