The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is reminding residents that several cooling spaces are available as the heat continues across the region.
Residents seeking relief from the extreme heat can visit the Township administrative building lobby, open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additional cooling options are available at Leeds and the Thousand Islands Public Library branches. The Lansdowne branch is open Monday to Saturday, while the Lyndhurst branch operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The Seeley’s Bay branch is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Officials encourage residents to check individual library websites for the most up-to-date hours of operation.
The Township says these locations are available to help residents stay safe during periods of extreme heat and humidity, which can pose significant health risks, especially for seniors and other vulnerable individuals.
