Residents in Gananoque and the Thousand Islands region are being reminded that two weather alerts from Environment Canada remain in effect.
The Heat Warning continues, with hot and humid conditions expected to persist. Forecast temperatures are expected to reach 30 to 38 degrees Celsius, with overnight lows between 20 and 26 degrees and humidex values between 38 and 45.
An Air Quality Warning is also in place as smoke from forest fires in northwestern Ontario continues to impact much of southern Ontario. Poor air quality and reduced visibility are expected, with conditions potentially lasting into Wednesday evening.
Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors, reduce strenuous activities, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family. Those experiencing symptoms such as chest pains, severe coughing or difficulty breathing should seek medical assistance.
