The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands Council has approved the award of tender OPS-2026-010 for the construction of a new clean room and mezzanine to Ubcon Construction Limited. The contract was awarded for $238,525.44, including net HST.
The project will create a dedicated clean room facility designed to improve safety for township staff and emergency personnel. The new space will include a bunker gear room maintained under positive air pressure, creating an airlock between the room and the vehicle bay. This design will help reduce exposure to harmful contaminants brought in on firefighting equipment.
The facility will also include a staff office and a mezzanine above the clean room to provide additional storage space. Township officials say the project will enhance workplace safety and improve operational capabilities.
