The Town of Gananoque is advising residents and visitors that Joel Stone Beach is currently in the Red Zone following higher levels of E. coli identified by the Health Unit.
Cautionary signage will be posted at the beach, and the public is being asked to avoid entering the water until further notice.
There is currently no estimated date for when the beach will reopen. The Town says it will continue monitoring the situation with the Health Unit and provide updates as they become available.
The splash pad at 135 Water Street remains open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The waterfront washrooms are also open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Town apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation.
