Residents and visitors using the Howe Island ferry are being advised of temporary service interruptions this week for scheduled maintenance and cable work.
The Frontenac Howe Islander will be out of service on Tuesday, August 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. while crews complete maintenance and a cable change.
A second interruption is planned for Wednesday, August 19, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to allow the Ministry of Transportation to retighten the cables using a load cell.
Travellers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their trips around the scheduled maintenance periods.
The temporary closures are necessary to complete the work and help ensure the ferry and cable system continue operating safely and reliably.
