The Gananoque Canoe Club is celebrating the success of several young athletes who have earned the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
Following a recent competition at the Rideau Canoe Club in Ottawa, the club announced that U16 athletes Azlyn, Chloe, Chloe, Kennedy, Reese and Mae, along with Special Olympic athletes Jacob and Simi, will represent Gananoque at the Canadian National Canoe and Kayak Championships in Ottawa during the final week of August.
The club says the athletes’ dedication, hard work and commitment have earned them this opportunity, and officials are proud to see them representing both Gananoque and the canoe club at the national championships.
The club is also thanking Thornbusch Landscaping Company Inc. and the Gananoque Police Service for their contributions to the Special Olympics program.
The athletes are now preparing for the national competition, with the club encouraging them to paddle hard, race proudly and enjoy the experience.
