Gananoque Fire Service crews were put through water rescue training last Wednesday August 12th, as firefighters continue preparing for emergencies on the local waterways.
The training focused on rescue techniques, equipment and working safely as a team while dealing with potentially difficult conditions. Firefighters regularly take part in specialized training to ensure they are prepared for the challenges they could face during an emergency.
With summer bringing more people onto the area’s lakes and rivers, Gananoque Fire Service is also reminding residents and visitors to make water safety a priority. That includes wearing a properly fitted life jacket, knowing your limits and taking precautions while enjoying the water.
The department says ongoing training helps ensure crews are ready to respond when the community needs them.
