The Thousand Islands Watershed Land Trust says it has raised more than $100,000 to support conservation work across the Frontenac Arch and Thousand Islands Watershed.
The money was raised during a community event on Saturday, August 15, through ticket sales and an Auction For Acres fundraiser. Executive Director Calder Schweitzer said this event’s success would not be possible without some very dedicated people.
The land trust said supporters came from communities including Ottawa, Brockville, Athens, Mallorytown, Gananoque and Kingston.
The funds will support its Keystone Connections Project, which includes nine conservation properties across the region. The project aims to connect existing conservation areas and create stronger links between protected lands.
The organization thanked community members, volunteers and local media for supporting the event and helping spread the word.

It also recognized River City Junction, Triola and chef Dan Thompson of the Keystorm Pub for providing music and food.
The land trust said more news and announcements about the project are expected in the coming weeks.
