Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service presented Firefighter Without Borders a donated pump along with equipment for other stations this week at a ceremony at Station 1 in Lansdowne. Township Mayor Corinna Smith Gatcke had some high praise for our local fire crews at the ceremony on Wednesday.

Prior had plenty of people to thank for this donation.
The donation will benefit Sunchild First Nation in Alberta. Leeds Fire also contributed used gear, including SCBAs, fans and auto-extrication equipment, while Front of Yonge Fire Services donated hose, air tanks, pumps and other equipment. Township Mayor Corinna Smith-Gatcke and Council members attended, along with Leeds Captain Chris Kirkland, who recently returned from Albania, where the Firefighters Without Borders Canada Dream Team 2 spent two weeks training firefighters.
