The Southeast Public Health Board of Health has made changes to its governance structure and is preparing for the upcoming municipal election.
At its meeting yesterday (August 27th) in Kingston, the Board approved an amendment naming the Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer as the organization’s designate under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Previously, that role was held by the Board Chair.
The Board also deferred a decision on a proposed caretaker resolution, which would allow operations to continue while municipal representation on the Board changes following the election. Legal advice will determine whether the resolution should take effect October 26th or November 14th. A vote is expected at the September meeting.
The Board is also continuing work on its strategic plan, with an additional planning session scheduled. The next Board meeting is September 23rd.
