Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Services responded to five emergency incidents last week, including three motor vehicle accidents, a vehicle fire and a dryer fire.
The department is also reminding residents about several upcoming fire prevention education events.
On September 28th, “Test Your Smoke Alarm Day” will feature educational displays at Canadian Tire in Gananoque and Home Hardware locations in Gananoque and Lyndhurst.
Then, on Monday, October 5th, all Leeds 1000 Islands fire stations will host Open Houses as part of Fire Prevention Week.
Residents are invited to meet local firefighters, see the trucks and equipment, and learn more about fire prevention.
The Open Houses are also a chance for anyone interested in becoming a firefighter to learn about the role and sign up for the 2027 recruitment classes.
