Workers at Brockville and Area Community Living Association have rejected their employer’s latest offer after 15 weeks on strike.
OPSEU/SEFPO Local 441 says members voted overwhelmingly against the last offer from BACLA management.
The union says workers remain united in their push for a fair contract and have received support from other community, health and social services workers across Ontario.
OPSEU/SEFPO says workers at developmental services agencies across the province have recently reached agreements with improved wages and working conditions.
The union has argued that BACLA’s last-offer vote was an intimidation tactic that could pressure workers to accept less and weaken solidarity among striking employees.
Under Ontario labour law, an employer can request a last-offer vote during a strike, allowing employees to accept or reject the employer’s latest proposal.
The rejection means the strike by BACLA workers continues, with no new agreement announced.
