The final night for the Showdown in September weekend once again treated the fans to some exciting racing action. The Super DIRTCar Series was making their lone stop this season along with the third appearance of the season for the DIRTCar Sportsman Series. The fans were also treated to the Northeast Late Model Alliance Series for a second time in three seasons. All three divisions put on great shows, with a pair of drivers scoring their biggest wins of their young careers.
The Super DIRTCar Series R.D. Hutchinson Memorial 67 took the green flag with 27 drivers looking for the $6,067 payday. Erick Rudolph, a four time modified winner at Can Am, took the lead early from the pole over Jack Lehner, Alex Payne, Alex Yankowski and Tim Sears Jr. Yankowski went right to work using the outside lane to work his way to the front but Larry Wight, Erick Rudolph and a host of others made the early laps very interesting. Between Yankowski, Rudolph , Wight and Alex Payne, each of them threw sliders at each other to gain an advantage, however Yankowski showed his dominance by pulling away from the field by lap 20. On lap 31 Alex Payne suffered a flat tire and slowed in turn 1 and 2 bringing out the yellow. When the green came back out it was again Yankowski in control but the one driver on the move was Jackson Gill. After starting 14th, Gill used the low lane around the speedway and found himself in the top 5 by lap 40, but had work to do to catch the top three. By lap 50 the leaders entered lapped traffic with Yankowski using the outside lane with now second place running Jack Lehner using the bottom. Behind them track regulars Billy Dunn and Jackson Gill were in a battle for third, with Gill taking the spot away, as he closed in to the top two drivers. With 10 to go Gill made his move to the runner up spot on the bottom and ran down Yankowski for the lead. On lap 62 Jackson Gill had the crowd cheering, as he made his move off turn 4 to take the lead from Yankowski and began to pull away. From there Jackson Gill drove away from a quality field to record the biggest win of his career, the R.D. Hutchinson Memorial, his first win of the season and first career Super DIRTCar Series win. Alex Yankowski increased his series points lead by 98 with a second place run with Jack Lehner, Billy Dunn and Mat Williamson the top 5.
The DIRTCar Sportsman Championship Series took the green flag next for 30 laps and Tristan Ladouceur, the current series points leader, grabbed the top spot early over Derrick McGrew Jr. and Tyler Corcoran. Invaders held the top spots early but 2026 Can Am track champion Gavin Eisele began to close in, making his way to second by lap 8 and began to run down the leader. By lap 15 Ladouceur and Eisele pulled away from the field and were looking to settle this race amongst themselves, but Tyler Corcoran, Derrick McGrew Jr. and former Can Am champion Mike Fowler were keeping the leaders in sight. With 10 laps to go the leaders entered into lapped traffic, on a track that was getting tough to pass on, however Eisele kept making several bids for the lead on the outside lane. With traffic in the mix, this brought Corcoran, McGrew and Fowler into the mix, making it a great battle for the win. On lap 27 a caution flew, setting up a great finish. On the final restart Tristan Ladouceur got the jump he wanted as he held off repeated challenges from Gavin Eisele to score his first career DIRTCar Sportsman Series win and increase his points lead in the Series heading to his home track of Mohawk next Friday night. Gavin Eisele held on for second with Tyler Corcoran, Derrick McGrew Jr. and Mike Fowler completing the top 5.
The Northeast Late Model Alliance Series was making their first appearance since 2024 at Can Am and AJ Miller showed he was the dominant force early, leading the 25 lap event, over Steve Baldwin and Nathan Rinaldi. Miller had a fast car on this night and took advantage of track position to pull away from a quality field by well over a straight away. Steve Baldwin was able to break free of traffic, but had work to do to catch a fast AJ Miller, while behind them Nathan Rinaldi, Ryan Lambert and NLMA points leader Charlie Sandercock were in a battle for top 5 spots. Miller had a great car on this night and not even lapped traffic could slow his pace as Steve Baldwin was doing all he could do to keep the leader in his sights. With the race going green all the way, Baldwin and the rest of the field would have to wait another day to go to victory lane, as AJ Miller scored his first ever Can Am win. Steve Baldwin claimed the runner up spot, ahead of Ryan Lambert, Nathan Rinaldi and Jonah Mutton.
