Gananoque Town Councillor David Osmond has announced his resignation from council, effective Sept. 10, 2026, after nearly eight years of municipal service.
Osmond was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. During his tenure, he served on several committees and boards, including Finance, Police Services, Community Safety and Wellbeing, Tourism, the Downtown Business Improvement Area, and the Trees and Trails Advisory Panel.
Among the accomplishments he highlighted was helping rename the town’s trail system in recognition of Doug Bickerton and the late Peter Murray. He also identified Le FestivILES as a particularly meaningful achievement, describing its growth from an idea into a multi-day bilingual festival celebrating Gananoque’s relationship with its francophone neighbours.
Osmond thanked residents, municipal staff, fellow councillors, volunteers, businesses and community organizations for their support and engagement.
He said he is leaving without regret.
