Property owners on private roads and lanes in Leeds and the Thousand Islands can now apply for funding assistance through the Township’s Private Road Grant Program.
The Maintenance Stream is designed to help eligible private road associations cover regular operating and maintenance costs. Eligible expenses can include snow removal, grading, roadside brushing and dust control.
Grants are calculated on a per-kilometre basis and depend on the Township’s approved annual budget. Private road associations can reapply for funding each year.
The Township says associations must choose the appropriate grant stream based on the type of work they want to complete.
Applications for the Maintenance Stream are being accepted until October 31st, 2026.
The program also includes a Capital Improvements Stream, which supports projects aimed at improving emergency vehicle access, safety and drainage. That stream has a separate annual application deadline.
Private road associations are encouraged to apply before the deadline if they need assistance with maintenance costs.
