The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario is introducing educators to a new digital learning resource called Edwin.
The platform, developed by Nelson, brings curriculum-aligned materials together in one online location for teachers in Grades 1 through 12.
Edwin includes digital texts, lesson and unit materials, videos, multimedia content, interactive learning activities, assessment supports and teacher planning resources. The platform is available in both English and French and can be used in a variety of classroom settings.
At the Board’s September 15th meeting, Principal of Curriculum and Student Success Brenda Reil told Trustees that Edwin is not intended to replace the Board’s existing approaches to literacy, numeracy, assessment or instruction.
Instead, it will provide teachers with an additional source of curriculum-connected materials.
The implementation will take place in four stages: access, awareness, exploration and classroom use, supported by professional learning for principals and teachers.
