Gananoque Fire Department recently welcomed paramedics taking part in the 2026 Tour Paramedic Ride Ontario.
The four-day cycling event sees paramedics and supporters travel from Richmond Hill to Ottawa, passing through historic communities, scenic countryside and waterfront routes along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.
The ride is about more than the physical challenge. Funds raised through the event are being donated directly to the Canadian Paramedic Memorial Foundation to help build a national memorial honouring paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ride also aims to raise awareness about the unseen challenges faced by paramedics and the realities of working in the profession.
Gananoque Fire provided the riders with a place to stop, have lunch and take a break before continuing toward Ottawa.
Organizers say the event is an opportunity to honour paramedics, remember those who have been lost and support those who continue to serve.
