The first hockey tournament of the season took place this past weekend, with several U11, U13 and U15 teams from Brampton to Smiths Falls and one team from Lowville New York taking part.
Our own Gananoque Islanders made the championship round in the U11 division, dropping a 4-0 decision to Frontenac.
In U13 Frontenac also took the title with a 2-1 victory over Brighton. In U15 competition Brockville got by Campbellford 2-1.
All championship events took place at the Lou Jeffries Arena in Gananoque, along with several pool games being hosted by Centre 76 in Athens.
