Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands are each receiving $240,270 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands.
The payments cover the second quarter of OLG’s fiscal year, running from July 1st to September 30th.
So far this fiscal year, both municipalities have received $462,171 each.
Since the casino opened in June 2002, each community has collected nearly $34.9 million in gaming revenue payments.
Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says the funding helps municipalities invest in local priorities, while gaming facilities also support jobs, economic activity and investment.
OLG distributes revenue to host communities through a formula based on gaming revenue at each casino.
The corporation says Ontario municipalities have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994.
