A community fundraising effort has delivered a new play structure for Kindergarten students at Sweet’s Corners Elementary School in Lyndhurst.
The project began in 2023, after parents and school staff identified a need for a dedicated play structure for the school’s youngest students. With an estimated cost of at least $20,000, the school turned to its annual chili night fundraiser and expanded it with sponsorships from local businesses.
More than 25 businesses supported the event between 2023 and 2025, alongside individual and anonymous donors, helping raise the money needed for the project.
The new structure was installed this past summer and is already proving popular with students.
School principal Chris Boston says the playground provides an important space for children to develop friendships, solve problems and learn through play.
Funds raised beyond the cost of the structure will go toward future schoolyard improvements.
School officials are thanking the many businesses, donors and community partners whose generosity helped make the project possible.
