A new toolkit for municipalities to work with to ensure people have access to healthy and local food.
foodcoreLGL uses five main principles from their Food Charter For the United Counties of Leeds and Greenville and Lanark County and shows how a municipality could use these ideas when it comes to by-laws, policies, and working with the community.
One example given by the Executive Director at Table Community Food Centre in Perth Ramsey Hart is bringing up an issue that a municipality may not have on their radar but could be quite helpful.
He also noted that a municipality could look at what is for sale at their arenas to make sure there is a healthy option available.
This is the second toolkit made with the first being applied to schools.
