The new council for the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands went right to work last night in their first Committee of the Whole meeting in council chambers. The major topic discussed was the possibility of having a cannabis store in the township. Council voted to opt in to look at what council can do. New Mayor Corinna Smith-Gatcke says opting in was the best option.
But it should not be a surprise to anyone.
Smith-Gatcke says funding and education are available by opting in.
Gatcke also says her and council welcome any and all public feedback regarding this issue.
